Union County NJ remodeling & restoration.
Westfield, Summit, Cranford and the towns around them have some of the oldest housing we work in. Older homes reward a careful remodel.

What we see in Union County NJ homes.
A lot of Union County was built out before World War II. Westfield, Summit, Cranford and Scotch Plains are full of prewar colonials, Tudors and Cape Cods with plaster walls, original hardwood and small kitchens that were never meant to be the center of the house. Remodeling them well means keeping the character that made you buy the house while fixing the things a 1930s floor plan gets wrong.
In practice that means a few things. Plaster and lath get handled differently than drywall. Old wiring and galvanized plumbing often turn up when walls open, and we price that conversation into the walkthrough instead of springing it on you later. Original oak floors can usually be refinished rather than replaced, and we'll tell you honestly which is the better call.
Water is the other Union County story. Cranford and neighboring towns along the Rahway River know what a serious storm can do, and older basements throughout the county were rarely built to stay dry. Whether you need a flood dry-out or want to finish a basement for the first time, we start with where the water comes from.
A little homework helps in Union County. The Union County government site is the place for county services and resources. Homeowners along the Rahway River and its branches should check their address on the {FEMA}, since flood mapping affects how we approach a basement or garden-level room. Permits for the work itself come from your town's construction office.

Before you call.
Do you work on older homes with plaster walls?
Yes. Much of Union County's housing is prewar, and we're used to plaster and lath, older framing and original trim. We plan repairs and openings around them rather than tearing everything out.
Can my original hardwood floors be saved?
Often, yes. Solid oak floors in older homes can usually be sanded and refinished several times. We'll look at the thickness and condition and tell you whether refinishing or replacement makes more sense.
Which Union County towns do you serve?
We work throughout the county, including Westfield, Summit, Scotch Plains, Cranford, Clark, Berkeley Heights, Union and Elizabeth.
Can you help after a basement floods in Cranford or nearby?
Yes. We remove water, dry the space, make flood cuts where needed, deal with any mold and rebuild the finished areas, then look at drainage so it's less likely to happen again.
