Where carpet makes sense

Carpet installation NJ bedrooms, stairs and basements.

Hard floors get the attention, but carpet still makes sense in plenty of rooms: bedrooms where you want quiet and warmth, stairs where you want grip, and finished basements where a soft floor makes the room feel like part of the house.

A carpet job is also the one time you can see the subfloor, so we take advantage of it. While the old carpet and pad are up, we fasten down squeaky spots and fix damaged areas before the new pad goes down.

Then the new carpet is installed properly: tack strip where it's needed, quality pad, seams placed where they won't show, and the carpet power-stretched so it doesn't ripple. Stairs get wrapped cleanly, and the edges meet hard floors with proper transitions.

Choosing carpet is mostly about where it goes. A guest room can take a plush pile, a family room and stairs need something that stands up to traffic, and a basement needs a product and pad that tolerate the conditions below grade. During the walkthrough we look at each room and recommend what fits how it gets used, and if a room would be better served by LVP or hardwood, we will tell you that too.

The Carpet and Rug Institute has care and certification information for carpet and pad, and EPA's guidance on VOCs and indoor air covers airing out a room after new flooring goes in. Handy reading before carpet installation. NJ basements should be dry before any carpet goes down there.

Questions we hear

Carpet installation questions.

Do you remove and dispose of old carpet?

Yes. Removal of carpet, pad and staples and haul-away are part of the job.

Can you carpet stairs?

Yes. We wrap stair treads and risers cleanly and finish the edges where stairs meet hard floors.

Is carpet OK in a basement?

In a dry basement, yes, with the right pad. If there's any moisture history, we'll recommend LVP or tile instead or fix the moisture first.
