Homes in Hunterdon County

What we see in Hunterdon County NJ homes.

Hunterdon is the most rural county we cover, and the homes reflect it. Flemington, Clinton and Lambertville have older frame and stone houses in their historic centers, and the townships around them, from Readington to Tewksbury and Lebanon, mix farmhouses with newer homes on large lots.

Older country houses come with their own set of quirks: floors that aren't level, walls that aren't square, additions built in different decades, and kitchens and baths squeezed into spaces that were never designed for them. A good remodel here works with the house instead of fighting it. We take the time in the walkthrough to understand what's original and what was added later.

Water shows up differently out here, too. River towns like Lambertville sit right on the Delaware, and many homes on rural lots deal with high water tables and wet basements. We look at grading, drainage and waterproofing whenever a project touches the lower level.

Because Hunterdon jobs are farther from our Warren shop, we plan them carefully. Materials are ordered and on site before demolition starts, and the crew works full days so a project moves steadily instead of in short visits.

Out in Hunterdon, the Hunterdon County government site covers county services, land records and resources. Homes in Lambertville, Frenchtown and other river towns along the Delaware should check the {FEMA} before any lower-level work, since flood mapping shapes what makes sense for a basement or first floor. Township construction offices handle building permits.
